Pangea Day

September 18, 2007

Well this is quite an interesting effort these guys are making.  It’s essentially a synthesis of the world’s films about the world.  We make movies, we send them in, then they all get shown on Pangea Day in 2008.  I don’t know if there’s some kind of selection process for this, but it is definitely worth a shot.  Check out their ad here and the website from the link below.

Showcase: Mono Sucks

September 18, 2007

Well, I know this is early for another Showcase, since they’ve been happening more or less on I think Saturdays, (or that’s when I’ve been aiming to do them anyway), but I just saw this and decided it needed some recognition.  First of all, this guys does some awesome movie impressions.  From Fight Club to Reservoir Dogs, the guy’s good.  This video, however, is different in that it’s about his ferocious battle with strep in a sort of good-natured indie mood of a piece with a sense of humor and shameless jump-cuts that make for a sincerely interesting and entertaining video.  This is a great job at a singly-produced video, a great example for you out there who, like me, want to make something but don’t have other people around to do it, (maybe I should take a hint from this), and finally, it’s just a plain old entertaining video.  So here’s the link below and enjoy the piece.  And be sure to watch his other stuff, mostly all impressions and re-enactments of mainly cult classics.  Enjoy.
